How do you catch fish at Lake Elsinore and Diamond Valley Lake. Gone to both one time and got skunked both times?

Welcome JV
Are you shore fishing or do you have a boat? Like Spirit mentioned, what type of fish are you going for?
As a rule, it is still a little slow around these lakes this time of year unless you are going for stripers from a boat. I don't fish Elsinore, but do fish Diamond Valley a lot. Also, Lake Skinner and Perris Lake are good fishing lakes. I am primarily a LMB fisherman.

Mostly Bass but I like to fish crappie and catfish when bass are biting too slow. When fishing lake Elsinore I used plastic worm Carolina rig and also black and blue chatter bait close to the bank mostly at the north end in the brush

Yes sir. I have a boat. I seem to have most luck with plastic worms and chatter baits shallow near banks but neither enticed a bite. LMB?

LMB, short for large mouth bass. My best catches have come on Gary Yamamoto 5" Thin Green pumpkin plastic worms. I usually wacky rig them. Either drop shot or flyline. Have caught quite a few 7+ pounders on these over the past 3-4 years. Fishing this time of year for bass is generally slow. Will pick up when the prespawn starts, usually around mid March or when the water gets warmer. With recent weather we have been having, could be sooner. Last year, biggest fish was an 8.8Lb, came at Lake Skinner in May. There are also some large catfish there, saw a guy land a 17 lb one this year. I also fish some of the San Diego lakes, with San Vincente being my favorite.

Feel free to ask any other questions you may have, JV.

Welcome to the Stage JVestal. I can’t help you but I know there’s many here from your area that can. Ask a man named Spirit.

Are you kidding me? You never caught a fish in Elsinore!? Last year was fantastic with bass (large and small mouth), wipers (hybrid fish cross between white bass and strippers and we had a ton loaded last year and the crappy. The lake was sooooo full! This year, we are catching wipers left and right and cat fish. Because the lake is so low, we don’t fish from shore. We pretty much wade in it. We always fish from west marina. Not sure you’re familiar with that marina, but it’s off Riverside Dr across the street from Lakeside High. I did try and wet my line at launch point but that day it was just toooo windy. We use jigs, dough bait, hot dogs and night crawlers. I like to use a bobber because of how shallow it is. My other half likes to let the line just lay right on the bottom. Either way, good luck!
