I have been rain gear shopping, or trying to. Seems to me you have to spend hundreds of dollars on each piece to get anything of good quality. Is there a cheaper durable alternative to these suits that cost hundreds?? I just can't pay 300.00 + for a rain suit. I'm looking for warmer weather gear, doesn't need insulation. Also, I don't want heavy plastic "oil skins" as we used to call them when I was commercial fishing. I know I'm asking a lot. Any suggestions are welcomed. :)

Check out Lowes.com They have a 2 piece rain suit for about $35. I need to try them on to post more.
Have you looked at Frogg Toggs? I have a couple of sets, for rain, not for everyday wearing .
Second the FroggToggs. They make a few models, but even the "high-end" version are quite reasonably priced.
Frogg Toggs will have the best selection. Go to the FT website, not through a retailer.
FroggToggs are my favorite. I wear my parka often on non-rainy
days, as well as during heavy rain in northern Canada. I really like
their hood and neck protection design.

I bought this in October. Been out in heavy rains and has not leaked, Soft lining gives some warmth.
Another Frogg Toggs fan. I find the best value to be the bib overall, non-woven. It's light, roomy, and effective.
I agree on Frog Togs. I use to be a salesrep for them and for the price you can’t beat the quality.

Which model of frogtoggs?
Not sure, but I think I have the $29.95 ones, while I have only used them a few times, no probs, like seams or such. Easy to move in.
