Hi everyone. I just wanted to ask if saltwater fishing is any good in the winter months? I usually fish on piers other seasons. Thanks for your help
Hobbsb2:The long generic answer is YES. That does not mean the fishing is the same as summer, or even other seasons. Fish seek warmer water by going deeper when there's a choice. Also, they usually are eating less often due to their metabolism changing, but overall they are still feeding but less often.
Do you find other older, more seasoned fishermen on those piers? If so, ask them how they are doing, what you should do, bait they use, etc. Those are the most likely to know what to expect. Just Sayin...RJS
RJS thanks so much. I appreciate it.

Itโs the best time to go for rock fish. I do most of my salt water fishing in December and January. Kinda windy and a bit rougher than summer months but the fishing is way better.
Thanks for your help. I would love to catch some rock fish.

I donโt know about Virginia but here on the gulf coast winter fishing is slower than summer, spring, fall fishing. That said, itโs a great time to catch some huge speckled trout in deep cuts and drop offs along the shoreline. Deep is 15โ to 20โ cuts. Most fishermen around here that fish regularly know where the drop offs and cuts are. Will you be bank fishing or out of a boat? Either way you can ask for information from the bait camp or other fishermen, or you can get on YouTube and watch videos. Good luck.๐
