My wife & I have a small Florida vacation home in Punta Gorda on Charlotte Harbor(west coast near Ft. Meyers). We are on a channel with a small dock. The channel is full and active with Mullet. I'm told they taste good but are nearly impossible to catch. Does anyone have a method to catch Mullet? Any other advice for channel fishing is also welcome. Thanks

There are 2 kinds of saltwater catfish normally in Florida. 1 is the hardhead, the other is commonly called sailcat. Both kinds are eatable. Sail cats you can skin and fry. The hardheads are best if you marinade them and smoke. Get a cast net and learn to throw it for mullet. Mullet are best smoked. You can buy them in some grocery stores. I would suggest you try them before you start fishing for them. I personally don't like them fryed but I do like them smoked.

Thanks. Does casting a net have it's own set of rules and regs?
