I know that there is a lot of smallmouth Buffalo in the lake I live by but I have no idea where they would be in the winter does anybody know where they go in the colder months? (I live in the Fort Worth area of Texas)

Well, they certainly don't pack their bags and head south! If they were there this summer, they are still there, somewhere. Possibly very deep water to stay warm, but probably don't eat as frequently as in the summer, but they are still eating. Just Sayin....RJS
Deep holes but as Robert says they have very little energy to chase bait you just about have to hit them in the nose with it. Fish slow no matter what method you are using. I'm lucky our fish don't much care if it's a little cold they bite anyway except for the fish who have moved offshore.
