When was this and where on the lake were you?
I use to fish that lake. Last time I was there we caught some of those while we were trollin.

Welcome to this Fishing Stage Forum, King Salmon 2021!!! Nice slabs to start off 2021 :-)I have been to Berryessa twice already - both times at Putah Creek Campground. I have only fished there during the day and crappie fishing during the day is a lot slower. What were you using to catch those crappie and what part of Berryessa?

Hey E, you should try trolling some small jigs with twistertails grubs. Try pink body, chartreuse tail, white body, chartreuse tail, or silver/gray body with a clear with silver glitter tail. I would almost guarantee success. Let us know if it works.

When you say trolling, how deep?

I generally use a 1/32 to 1/16 ounce jig and it will run 4-6 foot deep but in my lake I have a lot of obstructions at around 5 feet down so the heavier the jig you use or the slower you troll, the deeper you will run the bait. Keep in mind that crappie generally feed looking upwards.
Try running at different speeds and depths until you locate them and have fun!!
I say it is my lazy man fishing but I have had great success doing this.
