Just curious as to what other people use.
Personally the Santee rig is my go to.

Me too. Never heard of it. My favorite rig when I used to fish for em was a 2/0 or 3/0 circle hook with a 1/4 oz or so weight (whatever I needed to keep the bait down in the current) under a bobber big enough to float that a foot or so off the bottom. Let it drift in the current, through a hole, with a bait runner spinning reel. Let mr. whiskers seize the bait and run with it, then set the drag on the bait runner and start reeling. He'll let you know if you hooked him.
Do rigs have different names in different places like fish?
I use the Santee copper in current, in ponds a Carolina rig works best for me. Jello chicken with a 6/0 or 8/0 circle hook. Good luck.
I use a #1 bait hook and red & white bobber, mainly for shallow water. When I do fish over 5 ft I use a slip bobber. I want mine 1 inch from the bottom. But I fish mainly Utah Lake for catfish. A real shallow lake.
Fishing in a pond I enjoy jug fishing. Set out several and chase them in my kayak.

I fish the delta in California this is usually out of Antioch from a boat back in the sloughs find a deep hole with tree trunks and brush maybe 15 to 20 feet and use simple rig weight on bottom two hooks above usually 0/1 or 1 bait I use is clams and always have lots of action can use night crawlers also I like striper fishing better but the grandsons like action and that’s catfish and crappie they would if I’d let them fish around the dock for perch with a bobber and worms they do this while we get ready and love it
This what most Cat men use around here with cut bait
I use a "Sliding Sinker" on the East Coast they call it a Carolina rig, with a surf rod so I can get way out there with a 1-4 Oz sinker sliding on the line, and a 2/0-5/O circle hook at the end of the line.
