I am a beginner and this is my first time getting on a boat. I just have a few questions to ask:

1. What line should I use. Mono or braid?

2. What size hook and what sinker should I use?

3. What type of lure and bait should I bring onto the boat?

I agree with Fly. Everything depends on :WHAT you're fishing for, WHERE you're fishing, what METHOD you are using .
You don't use the same stuff to drift for Flounder, as you do to jig for Bluefish, or troll for Tuna.

I do. I was told to keep it simple. Catch a flounder on a sand worm, have a blue fish grab it. then fire up the trolling motor and voilà, a tuna on a blue fish. I have had no luck so far. I might try it in salt water. Maybe that is the problem. Should I continue to use my Zebco?

What they said................the phrase “deep sea fishing” means a lot of different things to each of us, but as u get more into buying reels and equipping them for all the types of “deep sea fishing” you take on, you will probably find that using a combination of braid and mono for most offshore applications is ideal and allows for flexibility. You can start with 50# braid for most near shore applications, then step up to 100# as you go for much bigger stuff. You just tie on a top shot of the appropriate mono for what u are doing that day.
You said “first time on a boat “, take your sea sick meds the night before leaving, with another dose before leaving, you will enjoy it more.
