Carolina rigging

Just saw Carolina rig on another post. Got me thinking, when was last time I use a C rig. It’s been a while.
I used to throw a C rig a lot. Really don’t know why I stopped.
I’ll pick it back up this comming season. I have a few points in mind where it would be a great fit.

I used to rig a C rig with a tube with a foam ear plug stuck in it. Hooked an enormous musky on one of these. Just got to see it before line popped. Only musky myself or anyone else had seen at that lake in 20 years.

What plastics are everyone using these days

I use a wacky rig a lot with no or little weight and a 5” Senko. My best was with,a chartreussw n white senlo from BassPro. If I am worm fishing, I will use a 6-10” plastic, but cannot remember the brand.

Great idea on the ear plug. I plan on getting back to using the C rig myself this year.

A Carolina rig with a green pumpkin lizard is my -- and many other's-- favorite
rig for largemouth in Mexico's Lake El Salto. I've found fishing it V E R Y slow
is mosty productive.

A guy I know that fishes Lake Sonoma a lot, his go to is a Carolina rigged baby brush hog in green pumpkin, red flake. Just kills the SM on the rocky points.

Brush hogs are also popular in Mexican lakes. Green pumpkin with red flakes
rules at Lake El Salto, and it's my favorite color up here on the Columbia River, too.
Unfortunately, the river bottom on much of the Columbia is very rocky/snaggy, so
Carolina rigs usually have a short lifespan.

Another little trick with a tube jig is to slip a small piece of alka selser in the tube a head of the jig. the little bubbles weary bass nuts.
