Looked this location up and It was said to be in Utah and Arizone. Not sure which stat the picture was taken from but it sure is pretty. Hope you enjoy. Hope someone out there can tell us if this is a sunset or sunrise.

Every time I see these Buttes, I expect to see John Wayne and a U.S. Cavalry unit chasing Indians, or being chased by Indians. I think about every western he was in was filmed here. Just Sayin...RJS

Beautiful picture, but the clue to whether it is at sunrise or sunset may be in the title?

I didn't know if the picture was taking from the east or west.

Nice sunrise Gordon. Back in 08 me and a gal went to Sturgis South Dakota. Riding one day she leaned up and told me every corner we went around she expected to see John Wayne or Clint Eastwood on a horse 😁

Monument Valley is about a hundred miles southwest of here. It is on the Navajo Reservation not too far north of Lake Powell in Arizona. The two mesas on the left are known as the Mittens and I believe the picture was taken from the west. It is a sunrise. Beautiful picture thanks Gordon.

A lot of the Duke's movies were filmed in Monument Valley; John Ford was enamored of the area after some photographer showed him a bunch of photos ! Some of the Duke's movies (like 'Angel and the Badman') were filmed in the Sedona area, as were many other Westerns of that era !
