Boat has not been run in over a year, stored outside under boat cover. Just got both motors to reun, 50hp and a 9.8hp Tohatsus, now can go fishing! I am so excited to have them both fire up after sitting so long, had to use a little start juice on the 9.8, it has always been hard to start. Nither motor nor the boat has 50 hrs yet and it is a 2019 18' Klamath. Tight lines! Tom

I suggest just a short run on both for awhile TT. Make sure all internal parts are working well and no critters made their way in to mess things up.

Might need new impellers in the water pumps after sitting for so long.

thanks for the advice guys, they both ran for about a half hour, no heating or water issues, did not see any critter evidence anywhere.

Our outboards are probably a lot tougher than we think, but since I consider mine a very precious possession, I probably baby it more than I need to.

I agree with Barnacles. Took my dad's boat out in Hawaii that had been sitting for quite awhile. Was doing this to get it ready for his burial at sea. Ran pretty good for an hour or so. The next day was his burial, and we just cleared the harbor and the boat died. Had to transfer his ashes to a friends boat, and I had to be towed back in.
Problem.......the impellers. Missed the burial completely. Then again it could have been the Hawaiian gods.

Hi saw, hate to say it but this covid-19 has me staying to myself for now, maybe if I get vacinated, or if I can get vacinated. When are you taking yours out? The wife says she will go with me when it is not so cold, so may be by June, LOL.
