Any tricks for stowing away 4 piece rods?

This is a pretty dumb question potentially. But I have a 4 piece Daiwa rod I got for traveling (I ride a motorcycle). Obviously, when the rod is fully assembled, I can hook the needle on the little loop thing toward the handle of the rod. My question is, for me to break it down to 4-piece, do I basically have to disassemble the entire set up every time? It's not a biggie, if I do, just wanted to check if I'm missing a nifty trick. I'm very new to this.

I only have a 2 piece ultra light (6ft) but Ill leave the lure on and break it down to travel and it works just fine. Just be careful reassembling it as the lure may come off the keeper and accidentally snag something

got ya, so you just make sure you have enough slack, pull the rods apart, "stack" the pieces, then reel to tighten?

Exactly, I typically loosen the drag way up and just pull it from the real

Good practice to loosen the drag. Will the rod be exposed while riding? If so, then remove the lure (so it doesn’t rattle against the rod which will create stress and weaken/crack the rod) and wrap the pieces together snugly for the same reason.

Good luck fishing!

How about going to a plumbing supply store, buying a piece of PVC a little longer than your longest piece, and the diameter to accomodate all four pieces, get two end pieces with a screw caps.

Then back home fix you a canvas or leather strap to act as a sling and wear that over you shoulders. Just Sayin...RJS

I don't know about that RJ, around here you'll probably get pulled over for riding around with a pipe bomb over your shoulder. LOL.

for cheap you can order a rod carrier bag. can put two piece ( several ) in them with tip out end too if you want to or put it in a backpack etc.

Hell, he is already suspect because he is riding a motorcycle. If there are such things as rod carrier bags for four piece rods that's the way to go, probably be a lot lighter than PVC. Just Sayin .....RJS

My multi piece rods have all come with a multi section rod sock and rod tube. I always break my rods down to protect them. I did start buying rod carriers that allowed for leaving the reels mounted but they also include separate slots for the rod sections.

To be sure your hook or lure stays attached to your rod ring or eyelet, buy the Lindy folding
velcro lure keepers. They are like envelopes and fold around your lure and rod. Hooks don't
stick to them.

For your transport needs...a rod case like the ones Fredfish showed is the way to go. Sportsman's Warehouse has some of the best prices.
The PVC is okay, but you'd still need to disassemble your rig or else, engineer a reel case to integrate (affix) to the pipe, as well as pad the interior of the pipe with either a rodsock(breakdown to stow with line, leader, fly...becomes problematic) or thin foam, or whatever. By the time you get through designing and gathering parts, completing assembly........ should of just popped for the $25-40 (?) "real" flyrod travel case, IMO.
Good luck, have a safe bike ride.
