Was checked for license twice
this year - both times at Community lakes/ponds ! First time was at Chaparral Lake in Scottsdale about four months
ago, the second at Greenfield
Park in Mesa about two weeks
ago ! No problem with either
one !

Back in N.H. in May of '05 (my best season, ever !), I was fishing one of my favorite runs (riffles/ rapids/pools), when I was
stopped by the same idiot three times in two weeks ! I asked him whether he didn't recognize
people or their vehicles after the first, or after (especially) the second time he checked their license ! I also pointed out that
my car was a rather distinctive color (brown as a turd - referred
to it as the rolling sh*t-box) and that alone should have been
worth noticing ! After the third time, I told him that I felt 'singled out' and that if I was bothered by him again that I would file a
complaint for harassment and/
or discrimination ! Saw him twice more in the next six weeks, but
was not bothered again ! Found out months later that he was a buddy of the jerk my 'ex' married after our divorce ! It really WAS harassment !
Was checked for license twice br this year - both... (show quote)

Wow Jack. Not so in California. But what else is new.

In N.H., the party boat license
covered the customers; on a private Charter, the captain had
to be licensed by the Coast
Guard plus a license to fish
and the customers each
needed a saltwater license !

I Retired early 2 years ago in may and have been thinking about taking the test for a 6 pack charter captains license. I have a 18' Fiberglass crestliner 115 hp Johnson pen downriggers mainly fish lake Michigan around gills rock and Washington island lake superior sometimes north of Duluth. My wife thinks that I am nuts and would just lose money. 🛶

If you are not planning on doing this full time the expenses will kill you. Also unless you can fit a full 6 customers on your boat, you will have a hard time with only being able to collect from 3 or 4 people. My first 6-pack boat was a 23 footer. I could only safely put a max of 4 customers on board. For a number of years on that basis I basically did a bit better than break even. Commercial fees, commercial licenses rarely adjust to the number of people you have on board. Insurance is an annual cost that does not adjust to number of trips or people on board. My insurance alone ran $1800 for the last year I was in business. You might find insurance cheaper if you could find a fresh water only plan. Mine included offshore trips. You also want to consider that if you are writing off your expenses on your taxes, plan on being audited. Fishing charters is the most audited business. If after 5 years you do not show a profit the IRS will declare you a hobby not a business and no more write offs. There are exceptions for this with the IRS but you have to prove you are working towards profitability.

THEY'RE SO CONFUSED !

Think that warden was picking on you for his friend after he was married to your ex? In the way of him saying you should have stayed married to her and not him? LOL
Can't see him after you unless she lied about you being mean to her, ect.
You were smart enough to divorce her, maybe he was upset that he had to put up with her now.

My late fishing partner ran 18×21" pitch prop on his 175 hp mercury on a 19 foot champion bass boat it could go 75 mph before it got to dangerous to control it.
