Surf fishing reel recommendation

I just bought a couple Tsunami Airwave 10 ft medium heavy rods for surf fishing along the southern Delaware coast. Anyone have recommendations for good spinning reel pairings for these bad boys? I'm considering Penn Squall 15s but would like to hear if anyone has other suggestions, and any experience with these reels.

Thanks and merry fishing to all

If you've got the money, van staal's supposed to be one of the very best. I know there's a couple guys on here that use em.

A Daiwa BG 5500 or 6500 or a Penn Spinfisher VI in the same size would handle most anything you might hook.

Are you looking for spinning or conventional reels? The Penn squall is a conventional reel but I have only seen spinning versions of the Tsunami Airwave.

As far as spinning reels go, you might look at the Penn Slammer III (4500 and up). Van Staal makes some very nice reels but they start at ~$500 so unless you are planning on dunking it a lot or reeling underwater and NEED that waterproof sealing you might consider others.

Ugly stick has out a new line of reels in a lower price range that look to be pretty impressive but their sizing is odd.

Thanks all, I'm looking at spinning reels. A friend had suggested the Penn Squall but when I looked at it after making my post I found that it's a bait caster.

I'm looking to stay in the $150 - $200 price range.

Thx

I don’t dish salt but I use shimano Sustain in 3000 size
I just watched a video. The 5000 size was voted best salt reel at icast in 2017.
It is very strong

Penn Spinfisher VI 5500 Reel, weighs 18.5 oz, 25 lbs of drag. IPX5 sealing, Water Resistant. You should be able to find in the $175.00 to $180.00 range.
The Spinfisher VI 4500 is 6 oz lighter with 20 lbs of drag. Cost less. About $160.00.
I also have a Daiwa BG 4500 which is a very nice reel. Purchased during sale on Amazon for under $100.00. Last I looked it was much more then that. But I've seen it recently for under $130.00. Smooth as silk, waterproof drag system. 22 lbs drag. Heavier then the Penn 5500 vi @ 22 oz.
BG's run larger.
The BG 4000 is only 14.3 oz with 17.5 lbs of drag. $119.00.
Hope you find what UR looking for.

Penn Spinfisher VI. Even comes in a bailless model. Right around 170 dollars.

I plan to get in on the striper run in early Spring. After that, anything foolish enough to take my bait. Mainly flatties, dolphin, sheepshead, e.t.c, standard close in fish

I would go with the Penn Spinfisher 6. 6500 . I like the 30 pound drag . I also have and like the Shimano BTR6000 that has been a good reel it has a 20lb drag. I don’t think you could go wrong with either. JD
