Any have any good bass info on this lake during cold weather months? As a mid-western bass angler it's always a sad time when winter sets in and the gear has to get put in the closet until the ice breaks. However, I recently heard that this lake stays thawed all year long because of the power plant next to the lake and would love to learn more about it. I appreciate any information thanks!

I don't bass fish but I can tell you that the ramp and dock get icy, so be careful.

Thanks good point. Would sand and/or snow melt help remove any potential issues there?

Could not hurt.

Have you heard about wolfcreek/aka coffee county lake.

Nuclear power plant furher down the road.
Not sure if it is open in the winter I do know there are big species of fresh water fish there, they have very small creel limits and you have to debarb your hooks.

Something around 9,000 acres I believe.

Use to fish there often but never went in the winter.

Cool, thanks for sharing the information EasternOZ. Live in Omaha so between 3-4 hour drive from here, but will probably have to get down there and take a peak sometime this winter so long as the route remains drive-favorable.

Good more than a day trip.

The warm water keeps the fish messed up on thier spawning.

Was down there one day catching catfish out of 1 side of the boat and 13 3/4 inch crappie out the other side on a jig.
At that time the limit was 5 catfish.
Limit on crappie was 2 and they had to be over 14 inches.
But they are all very healthy thick fish.
