This was my first fly rod: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001IAHX6A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_22e2FbHBXA5P9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 It has served me well. One of the least expensive kits I found.

I watched YouTube videos to help with my casting. Both Orvis and Mad River Outfitters have great videos that will teach you to cast. Make sure to get out and practice before you go fishing.

I started out with a Coutland rod and reel . Worked out very well and didn't break the bank.you can get a 5wt outfit for less than 100 bucks and it will work fine fir a starter outfit.

Not familiar with the brand Wild Water, but the package seems to be about what I would recommend to a beginner. Like others have said, watch some videos, sign up for a casting class with your local club or tackle shop.....and practice your cast at a park or ballfield.....ALOT OF TIMES... before you head out to the water. Fly choices will depend on the quarry available in your waters. Again, chat with local tackle shop....a small purchase will garner invaluable tips.
Good luck !

What do you mean crazy expensive? To enjoy the sport and be able to cast properly you need decent equipment. TFO has some really good equipment in various price ranges. Do a search for them there Are good sales this time of year. I found A TFO 5 wt rod, reel and case for $165.99. Keep in mind TFO has a lifetime no fault warranty. I own two TFO fly rods and I think that for the money they are hard to beat.
