A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, “Would you like to say the blessing?”

“I wouldn’t know what to say,” the girl replied.

“Just say what you hear Mommy say,” the wife answered.

The daughter bowed her head and said, “Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?”

Yeah... never a good idea to ask children to say grace. Being a minister's son, and sorta precocious at age 5, my uncle once asked me to say grace at a family dinner. I complied with what was surely a valiant effort for a 5yr old, using phrasing I had heard my dad say. In trying to include everyone in my prayer, I asked the Lord "to bless my siblings, my father and mother, my uncle's and aunts, our 'in-laws and our out-laws', and everybody in our family".
62 years later, those in attendance (that are still alive, that is) give me grief and laugh loudly. Can't tell you how many times I have been to a family dinner and as we got ready to eat, have a cousin or elderly aunt say.."let's have grace... Kevin, will you do the honors ? Oh, wait.... maybe let's have Bob do it !".......and of course, the whole family roars with laughter and newbies get the whole story and "how cute was that !"....... enough, already folks !!!
LMAO @ myself to this day !

Funny, at our house it was more like - "He who eats fastest gets
the most " ! And heaven help
you if you weren't quick enough reaching for that second helping, as you could easily wind up with fork marks on the back of your hand !
