A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington, D.C. when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.

The biker jumps off his Harley runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.
The reporter, addressing the Harley rider, says: 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.'

The Harley rider replies: 'Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.'

The reporter says: 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living?'

The biker replies: "I'm a U.S. Marine."

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads on the front page:

U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

Well, that is a joking example, but true. I couldn't care less for journalism or the graduates of journalism schools, they all, as far as i know, teach students to hate the US.

When I was in college, 1953-57, the journalism students regularly harassed all ROTC cadets on drill days when they were in uniform. This was a regular and irritating event. Since I was 6'2" and would not have taken any of that Sxxt, I was never harrassed.

But I think in 1956, in a sudden dust up, England and France bombed some ships in the Suez Canal and it lookd like for a few days we might be at war, there was a line of these beatnicks out the ROTC office, and even out of the building. I was sorely tempted to put on my uniform and harass these guys just as payback. I didn't. Just Sayin...RJS

there are no more "journalists" . they are now television "entertainers". I would challenge this generation to provide us with a Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, or David Brinkley. They only have the Matt Laweur, Connie Chung, Todd (a33ho3e) types.
