I will be fishing in Cabo Mexico this week. Advice? Mostly for my sport fishing
boat. Live bait vs. Lures? We are not going after Marlon

Welcome to the Forum, Rich, good luck!
Look up Cabo sport fishing. Find a boat that fishes the way you want. Check the reviews. It is still a crap shoot. If you can contact some of the reviewers. Then contact the boat and see what you can / need to bring.
I have had both good and bad boats.
Just saying
Take out the amount of money your are willing to tip
Show it to the skipper and tell him it is his if you catch the type of fish you want
Often times the skipper will not work too hard the first day knowing if you don’t get what you want you will come back the next day
I know that sounds rude but do you want
to do catch fish or be polite
I used to show them $100 and say I want a big marlin if it took until dark a plus or minus 200 pound marlin I would then give him $150
All were happy
Also a must is the giggling marlin drink until you drop and when you pick yourself up head out to lands end
And one last thing when in Cabo I always go to the local Catholic Church not because it’s catholic but I think it’s the only church in town and make a donation do not just drop money in the collection box put it in the priests hand it’s the right thing to do
just got back two weeks ago. pulled a lure spread till we found fish, then pitched live bait. fished with the pisces fleet. bare boat, 3 days, 23 dorado to 26lbs., 8 yellow fin tuna to 30 lbs.

We fish out of Los Brilles every year, the more bate the better, buy a slab of squid if you can find it its usually $20
use it for chum and long strips on large hooks for tuna and Dorado. also live bate if you can find a bate guy... sardines and large bate fish for the Roosters. Last time we were down there we realized "its all about the bate"
the more different types you have the better.
You can also allways use gigs and pump them above the rocky bottom areas for snappers
About 25 miles north of Cabo Sun Lucas on the gulf side Is spa Buena Vista. Absolutely fabulous fishing including Dorado, hammerhead sharks, various species of bottom fish and tremendous striped marlin. Their charter boats are well-maintained with very knowledgeable crews. In fact, I once hooked a striped marlin as we were leaving the Anchorage and I was simply straightening out my line, attached to a lure. I half-hour later, we boated the marlin And we were still less than 100 feet from the beach. We then sailed out for about 15 minutes and dragged my lure past some floating kelp where I hooked into And landed a beautiful Dorado. You can’t go wrong there.
