trigger spinning reels

Why does no manufacturer make the trigger spin reels? I thought they were really handy, and allowed the bail to be opened with one hand, thereby making it possible to make faster casts? I've completely worn out the (mainly Shimano) reels I had.

I think they went the way of the B & W TV. Things get better every year. I bought one for my wife, a Zebco, she never used it, the kids picked it up a few times, and then, who knows.

My "Autocast " Diawas are still going strong. There are still parts available for many older reels.

I had a Shimano that had a trigger. As my arthritis progressed, the trigger would whack me in the knuckles. Aging ain't for sissies.

Shimano still makes them, I have better than a dozen , several are the first ones on the market and you can still find parts !

I still have several, but only use the one on my ultralight. I prefer the instant anti-reverse vs the bail having to come all the way back around when setting the hook.

Hey JPS, I have used the Shimano trigger reels for years. I bought this reel and 2 others fromTackle Direct this spring. I also like the rear drag reels. These were $12.99 each and they do hold up well despite what some say.

Thanks to everyone who responded with the info I needed. I got on a site and ordered a Shimano Spirex trigger spin. Thanks again.
