Guys I'm sure a few of you know I started a veggie diet several months ago, sorta. I did slip a bit but been pretty true to it, well this morning I stepped on the scales and they read 199. First time I've been this light in quite a few years and it feels good. When I started I weighed in at 245 so this has been a struggle especially Thanksgiving day. I've got back up to walking 3 miles at a time and feel pretty good, now if my heart Dr. will give me the OK i'll get my shoulder fixed and get back to fishing like I want to.

If I can do this anyone can...

Congrats Ivey, I wish I had your willpower. I know if I lose 30# it will be easier for my body to carry around and will be easier on the joints, etc. I lose 10, then miraculously find it 2 days later 🤦🏼‍♂️
Keep up the good work and best of luck with the heart so you can fix that shoulder!

I'm not gonna slow down because one test says I got a bad heart. I go to the cardiologists on the 8th and I intend to ace her stress test.

That is great news. I have two brothers-in-law who recently went vegan too. I may have to join them. I certainly could lose 20+ pounds. Covid for some reason has reduced my physical activity. Good luck with the heart you'll have to continue to update us on your progress.

Got a very good friend who has a pacemaker and is about 50 pounds overweight. He went to see his cardiologists two weeks ago and said the Doc. had been to a Covid ward in Huntsville AL. He said everyone in that ward on ventilators were a carbon copy of my friend overweight and a heart problem, the Dr. told my friend he better pray he doesn't get it.

Egg, all I've done is took meat, sugar, potatoes and bread out of the diet been cheating with the meat some. put less on my plate and stop eating before I'm full and I've found I don't want as much to eat. Adding a walk in the morning anywhere from 1 mile to 3 miles and that's about it. When I started walking it took me 24 minutes to walk a mile, yesterday I did 3 miles averaging 17 min. a mile. Oh yea, I don't eat after 4pm, if I really get hungry I drink a glass of V8

Yes, I think preexisting conditions must include obesity. Certainly, a pacemaker would qualify. I'm 74 and about 50-60 pounds overweight. My wife is also heavy and has had a heart attack, a stroke, and a pulmonary embolism. We have been extremely careful. Only going out to get groceries. I've only been fishing a couple of times since March. Surf fishing didn't work well because people stop by and want to know if I caught anything. The kayak is better but still has involved some social contact at the ramp. So I spend too much time sitting in front of this screen.

Congrats on your success Ivey. For anyone who still likes to eat meat and keeps a balanced diet, my wife started on a program almost 2 years ago. You can see it on the website . Just search Cara Clark nutrition. It focuses on healthy fats, carbs and protein as well as variety. My wife lost 35 pounds over about 8 months and has kept it off. My daughter dropped around 40 pounds after trying all sorts of diets with absolutely zero success. The food is actually quite good. Not everything is to my liking but I don't mind eating it, and I have pretty control over using it since I do most of the cooking. Take look at the program if you'd like.
