I love all inshore fishing..fun, variety and free!
A rig I developed for fishing Opaleye close in to Jetty Rocks to prevent snags: A dropper loop with #1 bait hook (for peas) 2 feet above terminal. A 1/4 or 3/8 slide sinker below with a swivel tied to the terminal end. When line gets stuck in Rocks below where you are standing on the jetty, the next swell will make the slide sinker slide up the line and then slide down “knocking” the line free for perfect Opaleye presentation throughout. Against rocks but continuously knocked free. Works on bay side where there is a swell or ocean/surf side. See you at Opaleye Central ( The south jetty of O’side harbor right past the west bend). Don’t forget the peas and don’t forget the plastics for Bass!
This is a great jetty. On one day I made a point of targeting six different species and
, switching up after each catch, I completed the double trifecta in an afternoon...
Oops, use 1/2 ounce slide sinker for heavier swell

Thanks Smoke, Welcome to the forum. Can you take a pic of that rig and post it?
I used to fish for opaleye off a collapsed sea wall over at the sub base. Great fishing over there if you can get there (or there was, that was 25 years ago). Opaleye, calicos, leopards, guitar fish, cabezon - you name it. There was a kelp bed maybe 30 or 40 yards out and that attracted all kinds of stuff. Even caught a couple of halibut. Photos. We'd love a photo of that rig. And your catch. Or just some pics of Oceanside. Will you tell my girlfriend Naomi hi for me?
