I want to drop some weighted mesh bags in my crappie hole that
contain chum particularly for crappie. Does anyone have a recipe?
Thanks!
Gary: I recomment cattle feed in the form of cottonseed cake. I expect you can find this at any local animal feed store. I do not know if they would sell it in small (less than 100 lb. bags..) , or not.
There may also be commericial fish food. Just Sayin...RJS
I agree with RJS. We used to use wire mesh fish baskets. We would layer hay, cottonseed cake and canned dog food. Repeat until the basket is full. Puncture the cans top and bottom. The hay keeps the cake and dog food from dissolving too fast especially if their is a current.

Passed down from my grandfather. He probably used a burlap sack.
We used to use dry dog food .
Cheapest we could find. . Put it in an onion bag with a rock
Brings in minnows . Minnows bring in crappie
Only problem also draws catfish and carp

Oh if only the munchkins of today would listen to what we have been through. Ruff road ahead for many.
Glad to see you listen well 4.
Plumbob: A short history lesson, since Texas succeeded with the other Southern States, it was thought of a Southern state, but only the very Eastern portion, in the 1860's had the political power to pull the state that way, but since then, the rest of this state is more western and a vote later would have done as Sam Houston wanted, and that was to stay in the Union!
He was governor and could not hold the state in the Union and was kicked out of office. Had the South prevailed in the war, or it had come to a draw, Texas probably would have succeeded from the Confederacy!
If that had happened, Texas might have annexed a lot more western states and have become the much bigger and more dominant West U.S. or the Republic of Texas. We would have then become even more arrogant and bragidocious! Now aren't you glad that didn't happen? Just Sayin...RJS

Thanks, although Mrs. Four would disagree.

RJS everyone of your post are history lessons and i am in wonderment of all of them. Learning wasn't my strong suit in those long ago school days and sure do enjoy catching up here on the stage.
Thanks

Then i guess you get 4 warned.
Plumbob: Well, get a load of this. There came to light several private letters between Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson, president of the US about Texas, with the support of the U.S. discussing the annexing of Mexico, which at the time was in a political turmoil and could have been taken by military force. How does that grab you? Nothing was done and it was wise, since later the War Between the States proved we had not gotten ourselves in too good shape either. Just Syin...RJS
