What line or thread is preferred for re-wrapping new guides to rods? I have used black synthetic sewing thread and coated it with epoxy, but there must be something I’m missing. I’m usually missing something.

Maximo: Around here the major tackle shops will hve a selection of thread for wrapping your rod. You should be able to find the same in Jupiter if you will check. That way you can see what would work best, mix and or match, whatever you prefer. Just sayin...RJS

Maximo, the thread probably wouldn't absorb the epoxy. I'll second Mudhole or Janns for rod building or repairing supplies.

I tell everyone i know, learn to do it yourself. It's so dang easy it's not funny. You can make your own hand wrapper out of a couple boards or buy one from mud hole. They have a turn key rod building kit for under 180 bucks includes EVERYTHING to build a rod including all the rod components. And a how to DVD. best money I ever spent for fishing here's two rods I built yesterday. one spinning rod one baitcaster. If I needed to I could wrap and finish 5 rods a day. And I only have one eye lol.

Egghead: Good information and advice. Everyone who is a serious fisherman should pay attention. Wrapping your own rods isn't rocket science, and can be done by anyone with a little patience. Why? It saves you a lot of money and gives the person a lot of satisfaction in the craft. Just Sayin...RJS

Yes it does RJS, the green and black one is for me lol the other is for a friend for his kids Christmas gift.lol. the wife thinks I'm selling both, she asked one time. How many fishing poles do you need. So I showed her. Lol apparently I have more rods than she does shoes. That makes me the winner.lol

I replaced one guide on one of my bass carbon lite rod and I used power pro 10 lb braid and coated it it with clear nail polish. It worked out great for a quick repair. Tight lines.
