My name is Steve also. SL Res. is 3 hours South of me so it's a little far for me to go when I can go to the Napa or Petaluma Rivers and catch them there.
However, would like to give it a try sometime.

When I lived in Monterey (Seaside) I would fish at SL Res., but never went out in a boat. It was always to windy. We fished from the bank with standard double snelled hook set up and weight on the bottom. We used cut chunk herring. I always did well there, but did not go that far very often as the rock fish, sand dabs and lings in the local kelp beds tasted better. Both saltwater rock fish and freshwater school stripers are great fun on trout gear and 3/8 oz. sinker.

Hi Steve, I haven’t fished San Luis for a couple of years but would like to go again.
I live in San Martin which is about an hour away from the reservoir. Sometime after the first of the year would be best for me. I care for my grandson Monday, Wednesday and Friday so the other days work for me.
