Tip ups are great with live bait suspended below for just about anything that eats minnows.

Thermos! Tip ups are used with live bait. set up allows fish to run when it takes bait. Live minnows.

I's about 8 or so and my grandpa took me with him on condition that I didn't whine and cry to go home if and when I got too cold. I kept up my end of the bargain and the next time he went he asked me did I want to go along with him. I said no thank you grandpa. I have never been since. That's a tip up and he didn't use one of them, just stood over that hole in the ice and reeled em in. Neither did he take a thermos nor were our mothers with us.

It's a tip up. Use em a lot. Ice fish a lot for different fish. Lots of different baits and methods. Smother.

The good thing about this type of tipup is that the reels don't freeze when they are under water. Seeing the flag fly is a real hoot!

Definitely qualifies as a thingamagid.๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒMy idea for ice fishing is opening the freezer to find fish for dinner. Stays
good and toasty here as long as you pick up on the free Kool jacket offer at the gas station with a 2pk purchase! Enjoy that white bliss.

Spent many a day sitting is a warm car watching the tip ups. Brings back good memories. Type of fish: perch, walleye and northern.
