older and smarter

A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by.

The jet jockey decided to show off and told the C-130 pilot:

'watch this!' and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb.

He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier.

The F-16 pilot asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that?

The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!'

The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of that?'

Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What the heck did you do?'

The C-130 pilot chuckled.

'I stood up, stretched my legs, walked to the back,
took a leak, then got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll!'

And the lesson?

When you are young & foolish - speed & flash may seem a good thing!

When you get older & smarter - comfort & dull is not such a bad thing!

Us older folks understand this one, it's called

S.O.S: Slower, Older and Smarter....

Weeell.... might be indicative of YOUR choice of female....real certain that the females in my life (mom, 3 sisters, 1 daughter...and 2 ex's) would not consider a scar an attribute, especially if the accompanying story gave confirmation of a level of stupidity that was unacceptable. They, like I, admire wisdom and prudence over "hey...watch this, gonna get whacko !" Just sayin'.

Those might actually be more accepted, gals do have a thing for hardworking cowboy types. Got a few from barbed wire myself. From '67-'70 I spent the majority of my summer vacation putting 5 strands and new posts, gates and overkill (imo) deadman corners on what is now my section (640 ac.) of the family ranch....20 miles of barbed wire in total and literally thousands of "post ties"... impossible to NOT have a few scars, despite good gloves and my father's good advice on handling wire and stretching it with an ancient rope "come-along" my Dad insisted on us using. While I did get paid for the hours put in, the real pay came in 3 different forms, 2 at the time....best shape of my life, giving me the shoulders to letter in swimming....and the Jeep Wagoneer I learned to drive in @ 14, gifted to me on my 16th birthday !
But the ultimate pay is still happening. With regular maintenance, of course, and a couple of "gully stretches" having been rebuilt and restrung..... that entire section is still taut and keeping stupid cattle in, 50+ years later, as well as it did when it replaced all those awful "hedge posts" and rusty wire.
Well worth the effort....yes, Dad, you were right about that "cry once" theory of your's. ("Gonna be hurtin' you, either way.... so just do it correctly in the first place ...just cry once, son, and you may never have to do it again...)
No prob getting older, continuing my quest for smarter than yesterday .....always.

Yep, I dont have any scars from male stupidity, I dont have time for male stupidity, from school to work on the farm, and on the weekends straight to work. . . . But I'm lucky to get through a work day without see my own blood.
