I am senior who loves to fish but have had a really hard time finding anywhere local to fresh water fish. Would not mind finding good striper fishing locally either, Marin or Sonoma County. Thanks and I hope I can get some good suggestions. Just a FYI, I can and release almost always. I will on occasion keep one to eat but it has been over 14 years since I have. Just like catching them. Seems fair to release them for another day. Thanks again.

Senior guy who loves to fish. Most any kind, fresh or saltwater. I like catching but also releasing. Kind of a deal I made to myself. Well, good luck all and hopefully we will all catch some.
Fish ON!

Howdy Lee, welcome. Do you like to fish for stripers? If so you could go over to Cuttings Wharf and fish from their boat dock. You can use 2 poles and you don't need a license.

No License? Is it Private Property? Is it a Fancy Pants Place? They just want the fish gone?

No it's a public boat dock. They're treating it like a state pier. Where you don't need a license.
Really chaps our @$$ that you don't need a license AND you can use 2 poles.
You launch your boat and start fishin , you need a license and can only use 1 pole, even if you have a 2 pole stamp.

State Pier? No license needed? HUH? I guess it is good for outlaws. Can you get a duel rod endorsement in CA? I give the State of Or 20 or 30 bucks extra a year now so I can have two rods there is a few places i cant do it. But if bite is on I can get two rigged up before getting there and do it. If by myself on a boat two or more rods are more of a pain sometimes besides running a boat etc... Then phone rings... then in shallow water etc.

Yeah you can. I have a 2 rod stamp and all what you said is true.
I still use 2 rods a lot where it's legal.

Wow! I have never heard of a 2 pole stamp. Here, in Texas you want to fish with 50 poles, and can handle them, go ahead! Just Sayin...RJS

Out here in Cal. you're only allowed to use 1 rod unless you have a 2 pole stamp. AND some waters you are only allowed to use 1 rod period. Like where we striper fish in the rivers.

so RJS need 50 guys and fifty boats to achieve same thing here on the west coast. I can handle a few rods but much more if the bite is really on is more hassle keep them all baited and working let alone tangled up on each other in a boat.

Out here you are allowed to fish 3 rods per angler. The only exception is in Trout management areas, ant Trout parks, where the limit is 2 lines per angler.

In most of the states along the Gulf Coast, you can use as many rods as you can handle. Some guys will have as many as 5 rods out if they are surf fishing. One is enough for me.
