When I was just learning to fish (about 45 years ago), that's all my brother and I ever used on Lake Wawasee. Caught hundreds of bass over the years with that same color and the "skin" colored ones. I found an old, chewed up one in the tackle box a couple weeks ago, pulled the worm off, replaced with a live crawler and caught a few perch.
