I fish this guy the first steelhead trip of every season. Tomorrow he will be put to work.
I learned to cast a baitcaster with this reel 30 some years ago, it was given to me by my grandfather. It's quite fun fishing a reel like this. No brake, no drag, no anti-reverse, your thumb does all the work. Such an experience having a steelhead peel off yards of line with one of these. I wear a thumb guard as you can get burned doing such things. I'll admit, I'm very spoiled by the advances made with modern reels, but this one gives an experience (and sometimes headache) like no other. The only reel I use my very first steelhead trip of the year, then it gets put on a shelf in the house.
