What kinda fish is this. Is it good eating. What is a good way to prepare them. How do you fish for them. What kinda bait do you use. Unscramble this and catch some RGYPO.

Most often use minnows but also catch them on jigs and even worms below a slip float

That would be a perch, very good eating, whatever is on your hook. The word would be porgy, I believe it is a saltwater fish.

Funny thing about regional fish names. Fished up in New Hampshire and they called porgy scup. Up in Canada they call walleye pickerel. The list goes on and on, guess that’s the reason taxonomists adopted binomial nomenclature

Caught and ate a bunch of them when I stayed on a lake outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Caught 30 lb brown trout and 28 lb salmon in the Bay. Had them smoked and brought them home to NYC.

Don't get me started. And in California if it ain't a bass, it's a perch. And there are no perch in California.

Some fun fish to catch on ultra light rod and reel. Good little fight. Caught these with worms . first one was 10" and second one was 11 1/2" .

So, you're drowning worms again, Rob?

Yes there is. Good point. I even fish for them. So let me say there are no fresh water perch in California.

Knew them as tiger perch when I was growing up on Long Island. Call em yellow perch here in NJ. They even hit nymphs in the streams here.
