I've read about people who retire to cruise ships up to and including the QE2 and just stay on board permanently. Many restaurants, entertainment and usually warm weather. I'm sure it is expensive.

YES, I imagine it would cost more than the Holiday Inn. Might be more like the Doral CC, in Miami, or the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Much depends upon the size of your bank account. For some of you southen boys, there are steamboats that ply the Mississippi River and might be more your fancy. Just Sayin....RJS

My wife and I are planning to move to Austin near our children and grand children next year and use something called "Assisted living,' where meals and housekeeping are furnished and medical facilities are close at hand. Just Sayin...RJS

Well, JustoldJim: A lot of really good ideas are never widely published until all the rooms are taken. If you are considering this, you might want to get your reservation in. You can alsways cancel. Just Sayin...RJS

JustoldJim: Park it in their parking lot. I've seen boats of trailers often. Don't know if they are overnight guests or not. Just Sayin....RJS

When I was in the navy a chief engine guy would put out a trolling line and catch a tuna sometime and one time he caught a 20 ft shark off the coast of Cuba.

Yep! That is where Hemmingway would spend a lot of time, and where he got the idea of The old man and the sea! Just Sayin....RJS

Firstmate1060: Let's stay in touch, and thank you for your service! When I was in, they didn't need pilots, and one physician said "they don't even need officers" so I took the 6 months training and 7 1/2 years of reserves.

I suppose I could live in a holiday Inn, as far as a day by day existance, it is just what does one do with all their gear? You would have to rent a storage unit for rods, reels, guns, and other stuff you cant part with. Just Sayin...RJS

Seems to me that with the
money you'd be saving between
a nursing home and a hotel
room, a small (5'×5') storage unit should be quite affordable; an alternate option would be to
invest in a decent, larger gun
safe to keep your gear close by !

While not keen on the cruise
idea, different hotel locations would be do-able, at least as
long as my health and mobility held out;
Nov. thru Feb.in Az./So.Tx./Fla.
Mar. thru May in Md./ Va./No.Cal. June/July/Aug. in Mt./Minn./N.H. Sept./Oct./Nov. In Tenn./La./So. Cal. - just for example !

Always did have a chronic case
of Wanderlust; living out my remaining years fishing all my 'bucket list' locations doesn't sound all that bad to me ! Plus I'd get to sample some great cuisine; Tex/Mex in the southwest, lobster/shellfish in N.E., crabs/seafood in mid-Atlantic, 'gator in Fla.,
Cajun in La.,
walleye in Minn. and whatever specialties exist the other locales may be noted for !
Could do worse !
