With the weather turning colder, how do carp act when it drops?
Is it better to wait until it warms back up or do they go year round?

As I understand it because fish are cold blooded (correct term?) they need external heat source to digest food quickly so they are less active and eat less. Carp still feed in colder temperatures but it will take you a lot longer to get a bite and you are a lot more likely to blank. Less bait and locating where the fish are is key. Personally if its bellow freezing I dont bother. Mainly because I'd rather be doing a more active hobby in the cold.

Thanks.
We don't get many freezing days here, here we generally are shorts and sandals or at least light long pants at Thanksgiving.

Oh I fish all year, but never carp.
Researching a bit so I don't waste my time.
I need to get a better understanding of carp tackle although I know it's not needed, I just want itπ

As far is i know carp eat themselfs full in these times of the year. Now they are looking for colder places in the water(deeper/ less sun/in the wind)
In the beginning of the new year (late February) they want to go to the warmer places in the water.
In the winter the fish is not active so you will need to find the places where the fish is hiding.
This time of the year is really good to fish and you have an bigger chance to catch big fish.

I fish year round here in Pittsburgh but it slows down a bunch in the winter. I go places I can build a little fire and sort of make a picnic out of it. It's nice to get outside a few times in the snow.

What do you mean how so??? Haha. Snow kills bugs, snakes go into hiding, bears hibernate, and germs die.lol. and ya can't make a snow angel out ice fishing without snow silly. π€
I got into carp one cold winter day years ago while saugeye fishing 1/4 jigs and twist tail grubs.
Caught 5 or 6.
Big fun
I drug em up on the bank and they froze solid. It was about 18 degrees
Came time to go couple 3 hours later and my son kicked em back in the river.
No s#!t after a few minutes , they thawed out and swam off.
Amazing
