Used bait caster, drop shoting plastic worms, started fishing around 8 30 am quit around 2pm, not one hit, must been holding my mouth wrong.
Happens to all of us. Fish are are fish. Many a day I caught nothing yet was happy I was fishing.
1oldtimer; Well, hoss, do you spend all your time at the dinner table? Or in a cafe, ordering one item after another? Well, neither do fish. When they have a meal, they go about their business, whatever they like to do. Just Sayin...RJS
Been asking that question more often than I care to admit
Last weekend I marked fish deep on depth finder , saw my lure right in the middle of them yet caught few.

Some days you get the fish - somedays the 🦨.
Remember thats why they call it Fishing not Catching
There's some people that think they have it figured out with moon and sunrise and fall, barometric stuff rain and sun wind direction and clouds. And there's even more folks that believe em. I'm with RJSthey eat or they don't.lol. and I can't tell you why.lol🤔

Man!!! Don’t ya just hate when that happens? I have plenty of those days myself.
More often then not! Every time I have one of those days , and there’s a lot of them, makes me want to get right back out there! Who wouldn’t want to catch fish every time they go? Just not how it works! I always said fishing is like golf, you can go out hit the ball great have your best round, the next time out you can’t even hit the ball anywhere near as good as you did the last time out, just my opinion, I just take the bad with the good and try to make it better, Luck, patients ,persistence
Fish relate to their forage, find the forage and the fish will be close by. Fish like to swim and are very good at it !
Schools of shad minnows on the Miss. River will move a half mile sometimes with a 6 in. water rise. The corps of engineers like to play with the water the night before the first day of a Bass tourney, (THAT WILL) queer your act if you can't relocate the bait fish !

Years ago I had a largemouth bass in a large aquarium. He was a pet and we called him Fred. He would watch television and loved my 3-year-old. She even stuck her arm in the tank and petted once. When she got into trouble if you smacked her on her behind Fred would tear up the aquarium. He would splash the water and fling the plants all over. When I cleaned the glass on the inside I would stick my arm in the water and Fred would run up and bite my arm. Now to your problem. I raised night crawlers to feed Fred. When he saw me coming with the worm box sometimes he would get very excited and other times he would look the other way. You could drop a nightcrawler on his head and he would ignore it. When they want to eat they will eat. Other times they will just ignore food. I did notice that the phases of the moon had a lot to do with Fred eating. 2-3 days before a full moon he would eat. During and right after a full moon he would not. Fast changes in the barometer or temperature would turn of the eating. So there you have it from first-hand observations. There are many variables that have to be in line before the fish bite. That is why fishing exists as a hobby. If you caught fish all the time you would get bored.
Try moving around to find the location of the fish to get bites. Don't cast in a desert and don't fish history. Look for all the probable places for bass to bite like trees & grasslines. Everyone gets skunked. Sometimes even for a week. So you must be persistent and be smarter than the bass. You are not alone.

Here is a story that just may apply to you. I remember back in the 40s, I went fishing with my Dad and his fishing partner Lee. Here we sat in this little lake in a small row boat. I am getting hit after hit and catching a lot of trout, I think the limit at that time was 21. Anyway I am catching all of those trout and 3, maybe 4' away was my Dad and Lee and they weren't catching anything! We were all using the same equipment and bait. The only difference was, I didn't do any driving, getting gas, filling the little outboard motor with gas and all the other necessary things for the trip since getting up. It has been said that one of the things that help Salmon and Steelhead return to their home creek and river after swimming across the ocean near Russia and other places is their sense of smell. As the Great RJS says, JUST SAYING!
