I'm looking for info / help to locate a reasonable priced place that makes the replica fish mounts using a picture, length, girth and weight? Any help would be appreciated.

Semper Fi,

kilokid

Good Mornin', kid, and welcome to the Forum. Have you tried looking in the classifieds in the back of fishing magazines or googling taxidermists?

Yes to both and thanks for the speedy response. I was hoping to get some recommendations based on good VS bad experiences.

In 2002 I had a real fish mounted, a 31" walleye, and I told him how I wanted it done, and he did a good job. A replica mounted at the same time would have been more expensive, and I'm a cheapskate. I'm not sure if a replica is more expensive now or not. If it is a decent fish, definitely have a pro do, it not a rookie. Do you have the fish now, or are you thinking into the future?

I don't have the fish now so the future consideration is my thinking. But I have to tell my wife how important this is. Lol, wish me luck!

I have been thinking about doing a couple of these myself.
I paintblures all the time and have all the equipment.
There are some pretty sweet ones.
Not much need to kill a trophy anymore

Hey kid, I use Advanced Taxidermy for replicas. You can check out there work at Cabela's,Bass pro ,Gander Mountain Scheels and a more. They make most if the fish mounts in the bigger sport stores. The did a #42 pound 48 inch long lake trout for me, the one I'm holding in my picture. I think it was under 800 dollars.

This is a wood mount done in 1987.
I don't know what it would cost today.

Oh, That is a big fish, Egg.

The walleye mount cost me $500.00, and the glass case that it sits in cost $500.00, this was in '02. When I brought the fish home, I said, "I have a fish for your wall, honey. She said, "Not my wall you don't" So, it sits in a glass case under the TV in the family room in the basement, and everyone is happy.
