For all the guys who normally fish Canada every year, like me, I would like to know where they ended up going this year and how did they do. May have to do the same thing in 2021.

For what it is worth, I didn't go anyplace. (bummer) I am going to monitor your question, it's a good one, to see the answers that you git.

We just hit a few local lakes that we hadn't tried before. Did pretty well, but we are definitely hoping to get back to Canada next year. My buddy and I both love getting completely away from everyone and just relax and fish.

OK, I'll take this bait. Been going to Ontario yearly for over 25 years, don't know how many. I was about ready to call it quits but my fishing buddy convinced me 1 more year. That didn't happen of course. We've both been spending a lot more time on our local lakes & we're catching some fish but I miss those numbers of smouthmouth Canada is known for. I'm thinking of
fudging & going up to Clinton lake Kansas where our fishing stage meet & greet will be held in May of 2021. The smallmouth are supposed to be good there & I'd like to see the lake. It's only about a 4 hour trip up. I pulled my boat to Alabama a couple month's ago & fished lake Eufaula & lake Seminole in Georgia plus a small lake in Florida. My wife is bugging me to go down to Broken Bow lake in SE oklahoma for a few days. Absolutely beautiful lake with lots of smallmouth & good walleye. It's just one of those areas that lodging demands are very pricey. I'll fish Lake Fork Texas in March or April for crappie. That's a yearly trip. In Ontario we fished Dogtooth !ake the most then lake of the Woods & Rainey Lake. Good luck!

bottomcoon.......Would Rainy Lake & Lake of the Woods, south end, on the Minnesota side be as good as could be expected? Do you have places on them you'd recommend? Looked up several and because of the "big water" in both, they have bigger boats with 60 to 90 HP motors. We just graduated from our 9.9s to 30 HP two years ago where I go. Don't expect the size and quantity to be the same, but just looking for a bit of action, and a shore lunch or two back at the cabin. Tried northern Wisconsin this Sept. and was very disappointed.

Have taken a float plane from Seattle into Hakai Lodge on Vancouver Island. Awesome salmon and halibut fishing. Scenery is spectactular. The flight alone is almost worth the trip. On the negative side, it has gotten pretty pricey over the years. If you ever want to splurge and treat yourself to a great fishing trip.......this is the one.

Been going to Canada since the mid 1950's. Planned a trip at the end of June, but unfortunately that didn't happen. I started fishing the local lakes here in Ohio; Atwood, Leesville, Mosquito, Piedmont and Tappan. Limited success on all of them. Had never fished some of them previously. The highlight of the trips was catching my first Ohio muskie. Hoping the border opens next year.

Ron, The MN. side of the Lake of the Woods is good all year, the Rainy River is good early in the Spring. Green Bay and Sturgeon Bay, WI. side of Lake Mich., can be good at times but it is a hit and miss type of deal. This is big water, Ron, and you will need a healthy outfit. Let me know if you need more info.

I was planning on going back to Lac Seul this year. Of course, that didn't happen. I am hopeful for next year. But this year I went to the Chippewa Flowage near Hayward Wisconsin. It's a great place to fish. Great scenery. That's my go to place to go to feel remote like Canada without actually going there. And there's good bars and restaurants/ resorts on the lake. Still most of the lake is wilderness.
Good luck.
