With the weird central NJ weather, I can still get out and get a pickerel on occasion. Today decided to target bass and man I just can't make it happen, haven't gotten a bass since early December. Really can't wait for the bite to pick up soon. For those of you who are making it work, what are you guys throwing and maybe some tips for this time of year?

Still waiting for ice to melt. At least you got out on the water.

I live in South Georgia so I’m able to catch bass pretty much year round. I mainly fish ponds so I’ve basically learned how to fish during most all weather conditions and I’ve never had to worry with ice. One of the perks of being from the greatest place on earth right here in Dixie.

Hit the back, I've been getting resident stripers at night in the rivers.

When the water is cold the fish are slow. You might do better with a chub on a bobber.
Been out 3 times about 4 hours each, skunked all three. water temp was 44 the first time and 54 the last. I threw every plug in the tackle box. I almost put on a pair of needle nose pliers out of frustration. I just installed a new hummingbird with Chirp, and side imaging, I could see the fish. Just could not get them in the boat. Barkley lake in Kentucky was my last outing. Water was very muddy. could not see but 10 inches deep. Next week I'll go again.
