I knew this had to come...If I am correct, the new regulation up and down the coast is a 3 bag per day limit of at least 12 inches TL. Can anyone confirm this? Blues used to school so wide you could walk on them and when they were in a frenzy you had better count your fingers when beaching. I used to catch them 36 inches and bigger. They would chase bait fish onto the beach and if quick you could kick one up onto the sand!
I haven't seen a good sized blue in 5 years.

That is not effective in New Jersey. Believe the daily limit here is 10.

Connecticut is 3 per person per day, including SNAPPERS.
As for the reason, see original post, last line.

I'm not saying I am right...I just got my 10 day license for NC in November and, it was on the listing for fish. Flounder are also being regulated as in you cannot possess one!! Banned for now. Check on the Jersey regs for me as I was thinking of going to Cape May.

Major, you better double check, I see your limits are 3 fish (personal) and 5 fish (on a "for hire" boat) .

No skin off me Major, but wouldn't want any of your fellow Jersey fisherpeople (I wouldn't leave you out Kandy) to get bagged for following false info. When in doubt, Google it.

Not any more. 3 fish unless you're on a paid boat, then it's five.

I agree. It's been since hurricane Sandy that we've seen decent bluefish. Plenty of snappers around during the summer But there haven't been any big blues to speak of. The fall tournament has been running for two weeks and no blues have been weighed. The last several years have only yielded a handful of fish total, with 700 plus fishing for 10 weeks.

That sucks! Commercial fishermen get them like the salmon in Alaska? Big money has regs tilted in favor of commercials.

Hey. Yea here in SC the limit is 3 fish per fisherman. There’s not a size limit in federal waters, but 12” inside the 3 mile mark

Just looked up last year's numbers. There were 688 registered to fish a 10 week tournament. There was not one bluefish weighed in.
