I would use it for medium-ish northern pike and wouldn’t be opposed to a round reel.

Tatula is a good choice but I'd consider going with the HD model for more powerful gearing, pike get big. No pike near me, but I use CT's for largemouth and HD's when I'm targeting freshwater stripers.

I got a lews speed spool tournament MB and I love it. Was my first bait caster, watched a couple videos on how to use the brakes correctly and how to tune the reel and after the first few days I have basically no fear of backlashing. I even try to skip under docks from my Kayak sometimes because the centrifugal brakes are so good. Anyways, they aint paying me, I just really like it. I have 2 now, 1 for top water and 1 for everything else.

For a great baitcaster I would choose Abu Garcia Promax or Revo X for the money both are very smooth and has 18 lb drag, I have several Lee's Speed spools and the are good reels but only have 10 lb drag. Tight lines !!
