I haven’t fished this spot in 27 years. The last 4 times out me and my buddy have been skunked. Though this place would kill the skunk but got the same results as 27 years ago, skunked! It was a beautiful night out, low seventies and almost zero wind. Enjoy the pictures, we certainly did!

Maybe bait. Your spot smelled like fish to me. I would try that spot again with all kinds of different bait. I'm not a fish so what do I know.

Good advice Fin. We were using live bluegills, cut bluegills and live/dead shad. We both had some bites but none of them dadblasted catfish would take the bait. Well onto deer hunting. I would’ve went hunting but it was just too hot. I might do some bass fishing, maybe.

RJS, I’m sure it is, weren’t holding our mouth right I guess. It definitely looks like it is and smells like it is,

Are you not still allowed to use bluegills? If you are still using them, why not allow the cat to swim off with his prize? That should eventually hook him. Are you using circle hooks or J hooks? How about next time using a cut carp and be generous with the slap you use for bait. Just Sayin...RJS

Well,,,,,,,,,,,, Rutinbuck, ya know catching fish is only a small part of fishing. It looks like a good spot, a comfortable spot to fish, a nice warm evening, a good beer, can't beat it.

Yes, I agree with all flyguy has said. Now, think about this, is hunting permitted there? If so, get you a comfortable lawn chair with an awning, maybe in a camouflage design, ring all sides away from the water with a camaflouge cloth about 3 ft high. Then keep an eye out for deer on the opposite side of the water. Fish and hunt! You mitght have to refrain from shooting any deer after dark, but you could keep fishing...Just Sayin...RJS

RJ, both of us were using live bluegills from 3-6 “ and yes we were using circle hooks. I have used carp before as well as bullheads, didn’t have any. The problem was they were just pecking at them but never decided to take them. Maybe they were little channel cats, who knows. A beer does sound good but it doesn’t play good with me. The guy fishing with me also hunts with me and owned the land as well. RJ, that would be the best of both worlds and would be terribly tempting but hunting is not permitted.

Just a thought, but too good to be true. Have a successful hunt and fill your freeze with venison. Just Sayin...RJS

There was an 8-10 year old girl that wanted to walk across that dam and the two of us guys kept trying to convince her that she wouldn’t make it and would drown if she slipped and fell in. Neither one of us guys are in good enough shape to jump in and save her and would be drowned as well. She walked out about the three feet and came back. I finally told her with authority that if she fell she wouldn’t be coming back. Scared the crap out of me!

Im figuring maybe the sizeable cats are gone or just not there right now. Probably a place to fish at a certain time of year too.

That’s the plan RJ. Last year I ate tag soup and all the salt and pepper didn’t make it taste any better. I’ve been hunting them since 84 and have had 4-5 years that I didn’t get one! It happens but not often.

Jeremy we figured the big ones were laying in holes down and back behind the dam, they tend to do that sometimes. They might not be there, who knows. I would think those fish over 10-15 pounds would be released so they could get bigger. The smaller ones taste better too.
