Bought this rod at Bass Pro Shop. And the Uglystik rods are some of the best one's (in my opinion) on the market. Won't fish with any other rods if they're not an Ugly stik.

Well now I like Ugly Stiks as much as the next guy but I wouldn't say that.
I'ma go fishin even if I have to use another rod. AND I have a few other rods that I like very much also.

I got an ugly stick GX2 heavy rod for haulin up blackfish, it's not too bad, good for what i use it for sensitive enough and tough
A good place to start. Just Sayin...RJS
I'm with Ben on this one. BUT, I do want to put in just one final thing on the subject of Ugly Sticks. I have several G loomis, St Chroix, Falcon & Fenwick Rods. I also have used Ugly Sticks & do use a couple of Ugly Stick Catfish rods. Even though the ugly stick is not my favorite & I'll use a rod from the brands I mentioned if possible I must say that the fish I've caught on an ugly stick taste the same as the many more fish I catch on a g loomis. That's all I got to say about that.
I'm pretty sure more fish have been caught with a 5 plank row/sail Dory and a tarred handline than from all the glass, plastic, aluminum boats combined, and from every rod and reel from every manufacturer, combined. Lesson to be learned, use what you got and learn h ow and you will catch fish, mi ght even have a fun time.:)
MainMarine: Why I said Ugly Stick is a good place to start, if you read the requests and quotes for very long youj will notice the high number of Newbies coming for advice about tackle. I cant help but think a lot are going to go once or twice and quit, regardless of the reason.
The if they all go and buy tackle, an Ugly Stick is a reasonable compramise on a beginner's tackle, whether they are going toward spinning or bait casting. They wont be hurt price wise, or as for as utility of use. Just Sayin...RJS
