Need fishing reports on Bass fishing, and or Striper fishing

I will taking my soon to be seventeen year old son, and girlfriend on our first fishing trip to beautiful Lake Hartwell in late October to November 2nd.

I have always wanted to fish Lake Hartwell for years and now have the opportunity.

I wanted to make this an enjoyable and all so memorable fishing birthday trip.

All information would be much appreciated, my son and girlfriend would be happy with any species of fish just pulling their line.

I myself have been an avid Bass fisherman for years. But I have never been fortunate to catch a Striper, I caught a Hybrid Bass about three pounds on six pound test line almost 35 years ago.

I sure would love to get into some Striper action.

We went be renting a house on the lake, it has a nice dock in deep water to fish off of located in a big cove.

Again any tips, pointers and local knowledge would be much welcomed.

Thank you all in advance for your attention in this matter.

Be Blessed Everyone.

Not local but striper like live bait such as shad and you have to get up pretty early in the morning.

I fished Hartwell two weeks ago. Hartwell is full of blue back herring and that is your number one choice for live bait. We caught a number of fish on top water bait, a Sammy. A Zara Spook will work also. I would definitely look into getting a half day or full day with a guide, we would see the fish schooling and then motor close and throw top water baits and live herring. It was fairly slow, tons of bait balls we would graph but very few stripers under the bait. Beautiful lake and we were there during the Bassmaster tournament so lots of boat traffic. We caught our fish in proximity of the dam.

I am fishing smith lake near Cullman Al. lot of strippers. we were fishing for catfish using some cut bait from a fish we call skipjack, you can't eat them they are great for catfish. i had caught two cats about 5 Lbs. each my grandson wanted to catch one. as I was handing him the rod, I got a hard strike i set the hook and handed him the rod. It took him a few minutes but he brought in a 14 lb. 35 inches stripper what a great catch for any 12 year old. I just put a 2 or 3 inch piece cut off the skipjack fishing on bottom. and yes i know they like live bait best but they will feed off the bottom. amen
