Anyone surf fishing for Bull Reds in the Port Bolivar area? How far out is the second sandbar usually?
CHS, I live in Crystal Beach on the Bolivar Pennisula. It is currently 4:00 p.m. Oct. 3rd. I have just come from the beach where some of my friends are fishing for bulls and have been the past few days. So far today they have only caught one bull. They are flying the bait out with a drone 400-800 feet. A day or 2 ago they caught 4 I believe. If you wade past the 1st bar or in between the 1st and 2nd you can cast beyond the second depending on the wind. The fishing just isn’t too hot unless you get several hundred feet out. Hope this helps
Welcome to the stage chs. Never used a drone to get my bait out. Interesting. Share some photos if you can.
Thanks Spirit. Coming to fish there next week. We will be using a bait cannon to launch frozen cut mullet 200-300 yards. Winds are forecast out of northeast. Your thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.
You're coming here to fish? Where abouts?

We rented a house on Buell. Will try fishing there but if no luck well move on to wash outs. or last resort, High Island. Haven’t been down for five years and want to try to locate sandbars with drone.

Sorry thought I was talking with someone else that lives at Crystal Beach.
It's OK! But I was kinda lookin forward to seein a bait cannon in action. You think it would startle my dog? She's not a huntin dog, she's a fishin dog.
