Isn't this a problem?

Went fishing with my oldest son in Huron, Ohio and decided to grab a charter as we both are bass guyz, but we wanted to try some walleye stuff. Charter captain and first mate were dynamite and we brought home to ILLinOIZ for some meals. While in Huron I picked up a copy of their fishing regulations for 2020-2021. Back at the motel I wanted to see what you can catch, and was absolutely amazed that Ohio can outline ALL their regulations in nineteen pages.
When I got back to ILLinOIZ I pulled out their regulation. To my amazement it took the ILDNR seventy-seven pages to outline their regulations. Both states border a Great Lake, both have similar available fish species. I guess I now understand why ILLinOIZ SUX. Not much longer for this retired GI.

Wow. I thought Ohio regs were complicated!
We have lots of site specific regs , Ohio River regs, Lake Erie regs , as well as seasonal regs for Lake Erie tributaries.
Gotta admit, the regulation book is well structured and easy to follow.

Now you understand that those guys, probably buried two or three floors below ground have a job to do. Otherwise they would be let go to live on the street. So they are dedicated and committed to writing a thorough set of rules for each of the different species, the different tributaries, maybe event the different counties, so it is a serious professsion. our fishing regulation book here in Washington state is 144 pages long, and you end up flipping back and forth between sections to understand what, when, and how you can fish. Not so bad now that I have been fishing for several decades but very confusing for the first time fisherman.

If I had enough $$, I'd never read the regulations. I'd just hire an attorney to come along as my fishing buddy. ...Assuming that there are attorneys who specialize in fish and game laws. Heck, here in California and quite a few other states, it might be too much for even an attorney!

It's so weird that even the County Mounties here can't interpret the regs. Shitcago has a mayor that has closed the lakefront so you can't fish. Navy Pier is closed forever so the tourist won't be able to see the skyline, and the fishing folks won't be able to catch a meal of perch during the winter. Have you ever seen a city and state shoot itself in both feet, then ask why they are broke? You just did!
