Finally took a ride, 50 miles south from New Port Richey With my neighbor and his wife we drift fished in 113 ft of water and the bite was on in two hrs we caught our limit and a half dozen throwbacks , these big red grouper are mean they want to rip the rod out of your hands you have to fish them with the drag locked down and get them off the bottom or they rock you up and it’s over the largest was 32 inches a 29 inch the other 6 were all mid twenties.

That is a lot of good eating fish. You had a good day all around, good weather, good fishing, good company, good pictures, how can you beat that? Good job, Joe!

Beautiful cods and good size too. Gotta be great eating. What kind of gear did you use? Nice pic of you and missus. Thanks for sharing.

Here is a photo taken 7 years ago on a trip to Fiji. Caught a bunch of red spotted cods(Red coral sea trout). Wonder if they are related? Those are my most fav kind of fish to eat. Cooked any style and they turn out delicious. I'm holding a jack crevalle caught on 30# test Powerpro braid. Good fight. Fish were caught drift jigging in waters 35' - 150' deep. Island in background is Beqa. That's where the Fijian fire walkers originated.
