They have a slot in them to hold them in place and the low branches are a problem I've lost a lure and a whole reel of line once...eventually I'll make it adjustable somehow so I can drop them in line with truck cab, I just haven't figured that out yet.

I too have lost an entire spool of braid to a lure stuck in a branch. Had a rigged rod in a vertical holder on the pontoon and it happened to snag a branch on the way out of the driveway. Didn’t notice until we got to the lake. Returning home I saw about 20 feet of line hanging out of the tree, stopped and gave a pull, to my surprise, the lure was still there. Don’t know what happened to the rest of that line, but I got the lure back.
