Starting to fish again

I have always loved fishing. Back in college fished alot. 25 years later, I have a 14 year old son on bass team and I get to take him and a friend out. Looking for advice on techniques and where to fish certain times of the year. We are fishing Richland Chambers in Texas at end of October.

Boles. - Richland Chambers is a huge reservoir. Look for Largemouth bass congregated around underwater structure where they can be caught with jigging spoons and deep-diving crankbaits.
FYI. The lake has been invaded with the mussels so ensure you flush out your boat real good before you put it in somewhere else.
