Hello Bud: It would help if you would go back to your profile page and complete where you live and fish. Just Sayin...RJS

Bobby Garland grubs on a 1/8oz or smaller jig head. I cast them till I find the crappie and when they stop hitting them follow with a live minnow.

I do the same but mostly use live crappie Minnie's
Whitey: If you meant to write Minnows, I would agree. Probably the very best bait, after that then small jigs that immitate small minnows. Just Sayin...RJS
For the sake and in memory of our fallen mate - a yellow mister twister.

Mini mite jigs. Work great
I still like the small plastic crappie jigs, red/white, under a bobber. Under a bobber, the tiny tendrils pulse with the minor motion of the bobber, and the crappies can't resist. Best intro ever for the grandkids, as they get plenty of action, and they just have to watch for the bobber (preferably weighted) to go under.
Jig and trailer
Try a selection of trailer color
I’ve had days where they rarely hit one color and smashed another
Sexy Shad seems pretty consistent. Other Favorites yellow ,chartreuse, white , blue / white
Live minnows are hard to beat

RJS- here in the buckeye state, we call them minnies. Just like some game fish have different names in other areas. It's a buckeye thing. LOL

Hey Bud, these are a few of the colors of twister tail grubs that I use and the jigs I use are 1/32oz. and 1/64 oz. I have very good success with them trolling.

small ceappie jigs are always a good bet
Yes, small jigs, even small spinner baits, like beatle spins, ans such. Just Sayin...RJS
Leland trout magnets, small 1" with 1 /64th oz jigs and leland crappie magnets, large 1 1/2" with 1/32oz jigs. I mainly use their bison color.
Actually these put the smack on bluegill, perch & crappie along with large mouth bass. Leland sells the flat dart headed jigs to use with their plastics, I cast my own.
If the bites slow with plain plastics I'll tip the jig with crappie bites of alive waxies. Both are made by berkly and chartreuse color really pops.
If the bison trout magnets aren't working I switch over to 1 1/2" pink and white tubes (pink body/white tendrils) and a 1/32oz pink colored jig. For some reason the bluegill don't like this setup but crappie, perch and large mouth bass slam them.
Have a few good lures hanging around.
