Any other right handed anglers exclusively use "left" handed baitcasting reels?

I am a righty with everything. Writing, shooting, guitar, right eye dominant, everything. That said, when I am using a baitcast reel I want a left hand retrieve and my right hand, my dominant hand, controlling the rod and the lure while my left does the reeling.

Am I alone on this?

We float in the same boat. I do the same.

Absolutely - it feels natural to me.

I use a left handed crank baitcaster so I can manipulate the rod with my right hand. Feels more natural to me.

Always, always, always. Your dominant hand should be used for holding the rod, not winding around uselessly in a little circle. This is how I was taught and I'm amazed that people do it backwards all the time.

I wish I had learned this way, I’m too old to change now.

Yup, broadcast, spinning, fly reels. I reel with my left hand on all of them.

I am a bit of a hybrid. For baitcasters or spinning reels when casting, I prefer right hand cranking. When ice fishing or jigging, I prefer to hold the rod in my dominant right hand and reel with my left.

Is this uncommon? Seems like it would be the instinctive way to do it.

I'm right handed and have used a left hand retrieve reel ever since Shimano and Ambassadeur came out with them. I've always felt you can control the rod with your strong hand.

I`ve seen em all, spinning rod and reel cast like a fly line? What works is what works for you! Bad wrist or elbow on dominate arm would make other arm stronger and probally accurate cast too! Test for the best accurate cast you have and just make it work for you!

I only use spinning reels with left handed retriever. All others right hand.

I do. I began fishing salt water. The feel of the reel on the left was instinctive when I started freshwater fishing.

OK, Just not upside down and reeling backwards to retrieve the line! I have seen that one and just scratched my head and shut up! Let em go on and reel on backwards??? Picture a spinning reel on top of boat rod in a pinch, try to reel a big in one that way???

Makes sense to not need to change hands after each cast.
