Would you rather fish in freshwater or saltwater? I'd say saltwater because there is typically more variety and the fish tend to get bigger and fight harder. There's also so much to do that you can't do it all in one lifetime.

I mostly fish surf, but lately have been branching out to fresh for multiple reasons.

I was raised fishing freshwater. I went to college at the coast and started saltwater fishing. I fished strictly salt for about 8 years. When I met my wife I moved back inland and began bass fishing. After we had been married for around 20 years we bought a second home at the coast and I went back to saltwater fishing. Due to health issues we sold the beach house and now I do a little of both. If I'm going to eat the fish, I prefer saltwater fish but since my Father taught me how to fish in freshwater that is where my heart will always be.

I’d eat fish from the salt any day over freshwater.

It doesn't matter to where I "COULD" could fish,if I had time to go. But seems that someone else getting away from here is more important. Lotsa good memories tho. The good ol days.lol

I guess you’ve never eaten walleye, yellow perch, bluegill, white bass, sturgeon, or northern pike.

I've eaten all the fish you mentioned except sturgeon. Walleye and yellow perch are okay. When I was young all we ate was bluegill and crappie. I still enjoy crappie occasionally but I've lost my taste for bluegill. I enjoy catfish. In my book you cannot beat fresh flounder, mahi, red snapper the list goes on and on when it comes to saltwater fish.

I’ve eaten all of those and would still take a blue rock fish over any of em.

Gentlemen: I detect two different and distinct questions here. One, fishing in salt or fresh water, and the Second ?? is eating fish from either salt or fresh water.

I fished fresh water until was transferred to be close to salt water and have never changed. Salt water, in my opinion, offers more and greater variety, not only can you catch a lot of variety, and of such variety one can eat, in very few places have I fished can one be eaten by anything encountered in fresh water as opposed to salt water! Just Sayin...RJS

No. Much smaller's what I'm looking for. Number 8 or 10. Really hard to find. I can get either from Gamakatsu, but not barbless. I bought 100 from Cabelas years ago, but they no longer carry em and I don't know who the manufacturer was. I can remove the barbs pretty easily so it's not a huge deal, but if I could find em I'd let them do it.
